Frihamnstorget's Friends

Located in the old harbor area in Frihamnen, Stockholm, this little square is brimming with potential and creativity. Frihamnstorget is run in a collaboration between Frihamnstorget Kulturförening and Blivande, a place for participatory culture and organisations in Frihamnen, Stockholm. This is a homegrown community full of people who dream, aspire and want to feel at home, all existing within the Blivande ecosystem.

What we at Frihamnstorget are creating is a real experience in participatory culture and place-making, based on an ethos of do-ocracy. There's no higher power deciding what we should fill the space with; project planning, decision making and building are done collaboratively following our organisations principles. We want our space to be for our community and open to the public during events and cultural activities for all ages. After receiving our building permit, we are ready to make this dream come true. For that, we need your help.

Inspired by other local and international actors, we created a membership for the "Friends of Frihamnstorget", a monthly membership, that gives you access to the cultural program at Frihamnstorget and that helps us develop the square and its public program in the coming years.

There are three different tiers, a low income membership (100 SEK), a base membership (150 SEK) and for those that can and want to contribute more there is a supporting tier with flexible amount (+200 SEK). Our goal in the next year is to reach 450 members, so we can scale next summer seasons cultural activities.

Your membership gives you access to our outdoor summer program, including outdoor cinema, circus, shows, gallery openings and concerts. During the long winter months, we have committed to organise one film viewing per month and invite to one monthly AfterWork, a space to meet others interested in community and culture. If you want more, you can join our community in a more dedicated way. One way to go is to get your own container project. Maybe you’re dreaming of an art studio or a cozy container office, arranging a green house or opening up a bicycle repair shop. Or maybe something crazy like a container pool, an interactive art project or a disco room for mini-parties. Please share your ideas with us and read up on how to add a container here.
